Scott started judo in 1988 under sensei Connie Lavergne in Lafayette, LA.  Since that time he has attained the rank of Rokudan.  He is the national team coach for the US Visually Impaired team, and is himself a three-time Paralympic medalist - winning bronze medals in 1996 and 2004 and becoming the first American to win a gold medal in Paralympic or Olympic judo in Sydney in 2000.  He also won a gold medal at the IBSA World Championship in 1998 and bronzes in 1995 and 2002.  Scott has been a head instructor at Denver Judo since 1999 and is a certified USA Judo international level coach.
